Home Cooked Food: Vultius Ice Cream Sandwich

For these last posts for our project, we will all be posting a ‘homemade’ dish that we create throughout our journey. We have been rating food and its time to put our culinary skills to test how well we can do some dishes. We will all be doing a 5-course meal, consisting of appetizers, main dish, salad, dessert and drinks. For me, I did the dessert. I did a simplified version of it as we have to cook with all the ingredients that we had and also I had to do mine below 10 minutes. So I would like to test myself. The dessert is called ‘Vultius Ice Cream Sandwich’. It is a very simple dish with very prep and cooking time needed. I named the dessert Vultius Ice Cream Sandwich as Vultius is my Freshmen Orientation Camp(FOC) subgroup. They are my first family in Ngee Ann Poly and so I made a dessert with our subgroup name in the title. The dessert is covered by Graham Crackers. In between those two crackers, are bittersweet chocolates with Vanilla flavoured Ice-Cream in between them. Then, I cut the remaining chocolates I have and put a ‘V’ in front of the sandwich to represent my subgroup. Now, I will share 2 ingredients to make this Ice-Cream Sandwich. One is the simplified version and the other is the real deal.
SIMPLIFIED VERSION(servings of 5 people)

Ingredients needed
10 Graham Crackers
1 Bittersweet Chocolate
Vanilla Ice Cream
Steps
1. Spread out 5 Graham Crackers around the plate for the base.
2. Break the bittersweet chocolate according to the size of the crackers and put it on top of the graham cracker
3. Place Vanilla ice-cream on top of the chocolate and cover the ice cream carefully with the same size of the bittersweet chocolate.
4. Cover the whole sandwich with the graham cracker.
5. Design the plate as you wish

THE REAL DEAL VERSION(servings of 4)
Ingredients needed
10 Graham Crackers
1 Bittersweet Chocolate
Vanilla Ice Cream
Marshmallows
STEPS
1. Spread 8 Graham crackers with marshmallow on top around the plate.
2. Put chocolate in microwave safe bowl and microwave it on high heat for about 90 seconds stirring every 30-35 seconds until it has that peanut butter smoothness.
3. Spread chocolate on the crackers. Let it cool for a while
4. Place ice-cream  on top of the marshmallow and cover it with another cracker. Press gently.
5. Serve it immediately or wrap it in plastic and place in freezer.

2)Layout the fruits on the plate
3)Pour the Yogurt evenly on the fruits
4)Dig in!

Home Cooked Food : Oreo Milkshake

As for our last post for our project, we decided to make our own dish. A few of us went to our groupmate, Jason's house to make a full meal with the drink, dessert and a main dish. I was in charge of making the drink which is Oreo Milkshake which is very easy to do so now I am going to teach you how to do.

The Ingredients:
1) Ice-cream (of your favourite choice of flavour however we recommend vanilla or chocolate and for this time we used chocolate)
2) Oreo
3) milk
4) ice(optional)

Steps:
1) First put the Oreo (1 packet) into the blender
2) Next pour 250ml of milk into the blender
3) next put one or two scoop of ice-cream or any amount of scoop
4) Lastly put ice (if you want) and BLEND

And you are done with your milkshake! The picture above is the outcome of our Chocolate Oreo Milkshake

Home Cooked Food: French Toast

This will be our last post for the project, however we will continue posting once we have the time and tried new food in the future. For this post, we all will be doing a ‘homemade’ post. You might be wondering what a ‘homemade’ post is. This ‘homemade’ post will be all foods that are cooked by ourselves! As for me, I will do a post on French Toast. French Toast is considered my childhood food as my mother would always cook this food for me when I’m young.

French Toast can be easily made with just bread and eggs by frying them together until golden brown colour. Despite being a very simple dish, I always find this dish very nice and therefore, I urge everyone to try cooking it yourself!

Thank you everyone for your support this few weeks! We hope that you like our post this few weeks. As there will be upcoming test for us, we will be having a hiatus before we continue post. I would like to end my post with this quote There is no love sincerer than the love of food.” – George Bernard Shaw

Till we see again, eat well!

Nook is the first D.I.Y. pancake in Singapore. What it means my D.I.Y? It means you get to use your own creativity to cook your own pancakes! Nook D.I.Y House of Pancakes: The Breakfast Bully & Oreo Overload

The name of the food says it all. The Breakfast Bully. Everything that you wish for a big healthy breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, gourmet sausage, sauteed mushroom, baked beans, vine riped tomatoes, breakfast potatoes and brioche, all served hot! This is definitely not something you can see nor buy anywhere. The food is well served and all of the foods are scrumptious. I ordered the most and i can say that i am the most satisfied.

Rating: 5/5

I ordered this along with Breakfast Bully. Oreo Overload. The taste is just like McFlurry from Mac. However, i find that this will be more appealing than McFlurry. The special thing i like about this is that it is not an ice cream, its a milkshake. Every mouth of it has lots of Oreos in it. Whoever that like Oreos would love this. A must try!

Nook D.I.Y House of Pancakes: Rainbow Pancakes

We went to Nooks during our lunchtime to have lunch. There was not much people there as we expect to be. I ordered the Rainbow Pancake which are made up of 6 coloured pancakes that can be eaten by 2 person. Each colour of the pancake has very distinct taste such as the black coloured pancake tasted like chocolate. The pancake came with maple syrup and butter just like the other usual give it as well, however, the difference is that it also came with dark chocolate syrup for people that like their pancake a little bitter as well. The pancake with dark chocolate syrup taste very well unless you poured a little too much in it that it becomes very bitter. I recommend that it is a very good venue to have brunch or lunch!

Carpenter and Cook: Place and Service

I personally feel that this shop is very exquisite. It's a small cozy and has very cool lighting around, slightly dimmed to make it feel romantic which is perfect for couples to have a fresh home-made baked goods and confectionery. Moreover it is also very peaceful inside, with range of carefully curated vintage furniture and home decor on the walls and tables. Last but not least, they even carry out event services such as desert table catering and styling, vintage props and decor for weddings or parties and many more. It's really a great place to hang out and chill in this vintage home store and artisan bakery cafe. A must try!

Carpenter and Cook: Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Queen of Hearts' Tart

The dessert that I ordered was Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Queen of Hearts' Tart. It was so long that I just pointed to it when I had to order. I also ordered Ice Mocha along with it. It was a hot day and the dessert was what I needed most. It was quite pricey as it cost $6.50 for the tart. But when I took the first bite of it, I totally forgot about everything that is happening around me and finish it under 5 minutes. Then, I sip down my cup of Iced Mocha and 'lepak' and talk to the rest of the WhatThaFoods boys like I always do. The tart was bake perfectly and the chocolate really taste amazing. The tart was amazingly delicious that I was considering to order another one but due to some reasons, I decided to stop at one. I would totally recommend you all to try this when you come to Carpenter and Cook. I would give this dish a 5/5.

Carpenter and Cook: The Lemon Cream Queen of Hearts' Tart

We all went to to this place called Carpenter and Cook where i ate this lemon tart. Although it has a plain look to eat, do not be fooled by its looks. It has a very nice lemon taste with a
well-done crust. So to all those lemon lovers out there, be sure to try this if you ever check this place out. The employees there are very friendly and helpful. We recommend you to check this place out as it has a lot of cool vintage items on display.

Carpenter And Cook: Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake

After we had our breakfast at Enaq Restaurant, we were all too full and decided that we have food like desserts after that. Therefore, we went to Carpenter And Cook to have our dessert. I ordered the Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake which is a mini sized cake. The cake was served after heating for like a minute and I feel that the temperature was just right to be eaten. The cake was so delicious that I finished in within a few minutes! Furthermore, the antique designed shop make the ambience very lovely and I feel that the place is very suitable for people who wants to come for a date.

Enaq Restaurant : Place and Services

The pictures below are the food that we ate from a place called Enaq Restaurant. It is a small place in Jurong East Street 32 Blk 303 just right next to the coffee shop. If you like to eat prata and other delicious Indian food then this is the place to go! This small place have plenty of different varieties of platas for you to choose. The service there is good and the food was served in a short amount of time. So guys we highly recommend you to check this place out!.

Enaq Restaurant : Plaster, onion and egg prata

The prata at the top is plaster, followed by the egg and onion. The plaster prata is a quite similar to the egg prata, instead of egg made inside the prata, the egg is cooked on top of the prata. I find it an interesting and creative way to make a prata. However, the taste is the same. On the other hand, the onion prata is unique. It's the first time i have eaten an onion prata. For people who like onion will love this prata. It is filled with many small little pieces of onions, with each bite having the scrumptious taste of the combination of onions and prata. Moreover, there are still many different kinds of prata that are sold there, definitely worth to go there and try some of the different types of prata there.

Enaq Restaurant: Mutton Murtabak

So guys. The fasting month is over! Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all Muslim readers out there! That means I can eat again during the day with the money I get during Hari Raya! So, we head down to had breakfast at Enaq Restaurant. I ordered Mutton Murtabak with the usual fish curry and sambal. And guess what? It tasted delicious. The mutton was cooked perfectly and the wrapping was just different from other Murtabak. And the serving size was more than expected but I still finished it by myself. I was full after this heavy brunch. The price was only $5.50. This is definitely an example of cheap and quality food!

Enaq Restaurant: Chocolate Prata

We met up to have our breakfast as a group. As we went there during the late morning, there was not much crowd there and the service was quite fast. I ordered the Chocolate Prata as it is very unique and it is also because I have never tried it before. The prata was served with curry and sambal which is something very special as I have not tried prata with sambal before. It turns out that the prata with sambal tastes very good as the sambal is neither too spicy nor too mild. However, after eating about 3/4 of the prata, it becomes a little too sweet as it is too rich in chocolate and tastes like pure chocolate which make me very sick of it.
